Start preparing for college now rather than later
Wednesday, June 15, 2011 |
Your parents want you to earn a college degree and your friends all plan on going to college. It might be a given that you will continue your education beyond high school, but how much thought have you really put into it? Have you begun your research? If you wait too long, you might spend your senior year of high school scrambling to fulfill college admission requirements.
High school students need to devote considerable time to the college planning process. According to Mapping Your Future, a national public service organization, the amount of time a student puts into preparing for the next stage of their education can yield great results.
Not only will the four years you spend pursuing your undergraduate degree be some of your most memorable, but they can also set you on the path toward a successful and fruitful life.
You can start preparing for college long before your senior year of high school. To make themselves into more desirable candidates, CollegeBoard.com suggests taking some harder courses throughout high school. Sure, advanced placement and honors classes might require extra work, but college admissions officers may be impressed that you actively sought to challenge yourself instead of coasting through school. - helping you find colleges and universities that offer the accredited programs that most interest you.
